ScubaPortal has been riding a wave of originality ever
since its community was born in 2003. Its gradual increase in quality content
brought in 2010 the birth of ScubaZone, the first, free and widely-circulated
diving magazine with eye-catching graphics and high quality editorial.
A student group from the exclusive University of
Communication of Padoa studied ScubaPortal as a prime example of success in the
italian diving media scenario. From their thesis: “Toward the end of XX
century the idea of a major change in progress is spreading through economy and
informatic environment: the new economy, a revolution linked with the new
technologies… but the web is no Eldorado, and not all the new firms born with
Internet have success (often the opposite is true). We chose the company that
obtained primary results on the web, becoming quickly the first on-line
community by importance and by number of users, committed to scuba divers:
ScubaPortal.it. This is the story of a success with no appearent hitches:
immediately, at its birth, the website was already the richest in contents and
information in Italy, and its importance and the participation of the final
users has been increasing relentlessly until now”.
