On Wednesday 23 January, the presentation of Sottozero 2008 Ice & Wellness – Ice Diving Contest 3° was held at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Marghera (Ve), an event that will take place on 9 and 10 February at Lago Smeraldo in Fondo, in the Val di Non, in the province of Trento.
Michele Laggia and Armando Visentin, respectively President and Course Manager of the Subzero Sports Association, an SSI recreational center , presented the event that this year will bring 120 divers from various regions of Italy to dive under the ice of the aforementioned lake, accompanied by approximately 130 "land" assistants.
Participation has more than doubled compared to last year's edition, for an initiative born from the desire to create and share special emotions in recreational diving.
Sottozero 2008 will have the privilege of enjoying the support of two leading national companies in the diving sector, Acquatica di Mestre and DiveSystem di Follonica, and three hotel facilities adjacent to the area where the event will take place: Panorama di Malosco, Pineta di Tavon and Quiete di Romeno.
The passion and professionalism of the organizers were underlined by Stefano Stolfa, Training Manager SSI Italy , who, during the evening, expertly explained the foundations on which the fundamental guidelines are based, making SSI a fundamental point of reference for recreational diving throughout the country.
Not just underwater, therefore, but also a wise and well-studied aggregation policy that develops along the flow of terrestrial and "aquatic" emotions in suggestive and spectacular locations, such as those chosen for ice diving.
There are also numerous activities "alongside" the event for those who won't be diving: from snowshoe walks to wellness programs in wellness centers.
