Mozambique – Ponta Do Ouro. Always!

Come back soon! That's what they tell you when you leave Ponta Do Ouro and don't want to leave. Come back soon and you already know you'll be back soon, very soon, in fact, you don't even want to go back because you don't want to leave, you don't want to have to leave this place in the world that made you fall madly in love.

I don't know how to explain that feeling that silently rises within you upon arrival in Maputo , the capital of Mozambique . It's the sweet atmosphere that immediately envelops you, the shy smiles of the young people who help you find your way, and then the road to Ponta Do Ouro , the golden tip of this shy and reserved African state. The entrance to the city is marked with its name in metallic letters, the stalls and market tents stretch out in single file along the edge of a road that becomes a dirt track, made only of sand. The colors of the cloths, of the women's dresses, the tailors who still sew clothes with old manual sewing machines, those of our grandmothers. And then you arrive, you arrive at the ocean, impetuous, swirling. The wind blows furiously, a wind of passion, harbinger of that feeling that swells with powerful gusts in a whirlwind of emotions that takes your breath away. Literally, when you launch yourself into a dinghy at full speed to overcome that barrier of untamed waves that only the expertise of Mozambican captains can ride.
