Camel sponsors the new Italian freediving record
During the 4th AIDA Freediving World Championship, Sharm el-Sheikh resident Federico Mana set a new record. The competition took place in Sharm el-Sheikh from October 31st to November 3rd. In the "Constant Weight Without Fins" category, Federico reached a depth of 60 meters, 8 meters deeper than his previous record, set in July 2007. Camel Dive Club is the sponsor of this freediving champion.
For four days, 100 athletes from 29 nations took part in the event organized by Apnea Academy Red Sea. The two disciplines, "Constant Weight with Fins" and "Constant Weight without Fins," require freedivers to swim to a predetermined depth. The support line is used only as a reference and not as an aid during descent or ascent. Once ascended, athletes must perform specific movements to demonstrate to the judges that they are fully in control of their abilities.
In the "Constant Weight with Fins" category, Federico dived to a depth of 78 meters, earning him 10th place in the world in the AIDA international rankings. Immediately after the dive, the champion told us with a smile, "I'm very happy with both results and proud to have set a new Italian record and to be among the 10 best freedivers in the world." Federico thanked Guido, his coach, and the Camel Dive Club for their support and encouragement.
Federico, who started freediving just six months ago, is not only a rising star in the freediving world but also a yoga instructor in Sharm el-Sheikh.
