An IRC Community project – DAN Europe's contribution
How did the initiative come about and what does it consist of?
For about 10 years theIRC (Italian Resuscitation Council) has taken over the
task of spreading the culture of the health emergency throughout the territory
.
The idea was born from the enthusiasm of those, doctors and non-doctors, who believe that saving a
life is a duty for everyone and that, therefore, everyone should have the ability
to be able to do so in an emergency.
This is how " was born "IRC Community" and it is no coincidence that it came to life in 2004, "the Year
of the Heart"!
Who is IRC Community and what does it do?
IRC Community It is an association of people, but it collects the requests of
Organizations, bodies and institutions, both public and private.
The primary purpose of this Association is to safeguard human life
through the spread of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of
automatic defibrillator and health culture in the field of assistance in
emergency, with particular regard to information and training di
those who do not belong to the health professions.
Who are the promoters?
IRC Community has been promoted by individuals and organizations who have
heart the development of the culture of life and which represent large sectors
of civil society.
Many organizations have already joined IRC Community and in particular associations of
volunteering, healthcare professions, Fire Brigade and State Police, organizations
airports, school communities, sporting organizations and bodies.

This first nucleus of IRC Community has already met with the approval of ANIS, DAN
Europe and PADI, which believe that the culture of First Aid is part
integral to diving safety.
How does scuba diving fit into this context?
In our country, following careful investigations, it is believed that, in cases of
sudden cardiac arrest, the optimal intervention times of the emergency services
medical emergency (118) in particularly organised areas (urban centres) not

These times are too long to guarantee the effectiveness of the rescue since

It is therefore more than justified that, in view of the birth of IRC Community,
the "Community" of divers is rightly represented and provides its
contribution.
DAN Europe's contribution and its role in the IRC Community.
DAN Europe, which has been promoting the “culture” of the
rescue, has therefore joined this initiative with particular enthusiasm and the
Prof Marroni was appointed by the "sub" group to represent it within the
first Board of Directors of IRC Community.
Which
what will be the immediate objectives to be achieved?
The first actions that IRC Community has planned are:
- To disseminate the information to the general public throughout the country
IRC guidelines through training courses for non-physicians carried out
through a network of instructors who are not necessarily doctors
previously educated, prepared, trained and certified by IRC; - Cooperate with interested associations, organizations and institutions
to the drafting of resuscitation training programs, to
defibrillation and first life-saving maneuvers intended for all
potential non-medical users; - Promote and spread the formation of a public awareness and
education on the culture of emergency by raising awareness of the
scientific world, institutions, schools and apparatuses
information on the practice of CPR, the use of the defibrillator and
problems related to the health emergency;
Diving instructors who already teach first aid and CPR courses will be
framed?
One of the first actions of IRC Community will be to unify the guidelines
of intervention to avoid losing the heritage of the rescue culture already
present within the organizations that have dealt with it so far by activating
specific training courses.
Where necessary, refresher courses and seminars will be organised for
allow for the adjustment of instructor certifications that will take place
in a manner similar to that of the well-known "cross-overs".
