Scuba diving in Dahab

The small town of Dahab, located in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula, attracts a variety of tourists for its splendid attractions above and below the sea.
The nearest airport is Sharm el-Sheikh, located 100 km away and reachable in 1 hour by car.

The village's name, which means "gold" in Arabic, derives from the typical color of the desert sands and its beach, which overlooks an enchanting lagoon, a popular destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts due to the excellent wind conditions that blow regularly all year round.
Dahab owes its fame above all to the splendid coral reef that runs along the entire coast and to the unique nature of the dives, which are mostly carried out from shore.
Easy access from the beach and the proximity, just a few meters from the shore, of the best sites make diving truly relaxing: all the equipment is brought to the pre-arranged location by 4x4 off-road vehicles and prepared for the descent into the fabulous underwater world.

Just a few steps on the beach to reach a wonderful Canyon submarine.
At a depth of 8 metres is the first opening that leads into this tunnel, approximately four metres wide, which opens into the coral reef.
Descend along a landscape of coral-covered vertical walls, admiring the spectacular play of light, until reaching the next openings to the outside located at 20 m and further down to a depth of 50 m. The descent to the deepest passage is recommended only for more experienced divers.

Another famous diving spot is the Great Blue Hole, a circular cavity approximately 25m wide with walls that plunge to a terrifying depth of 100m.
The dive begins with a descent to a depth of 56m, where there is a challenging arch-shaped passage in the coral reef, through which it is possible to reach the open sea.
The difficulty and the great depth reached place the Blue Hole among the dives recommended for divers with technical certifications.
Near the entrance to the site there are numerous restaurants, ready to welcome the dozens of divers who reach the site every day.

The days between dives are the perfect time to explore the surrounding area of Dahab and its major tourist attractions. Besides the classic desert excursion on camelback, you can visit the Monastery of Saint Catherine, founded by Emperor Justinian, located at the foot of Mount Sinai, and hike to the summit of the famous mountain to admire the landscape at first light.
Between Dahab and Nuweiba lies the Abu Galum Natural Park, created to protect and preserve its ecosystem, consisting of a splendid coral reef, areas rich in mangroves as well as desert areas, mountains and a great variety of animal and plant species.
