It was officially presented in Nice iBubble un drone underwater, produced by a French startup, intended to accompany divers during their dives.
It's a drone, primarily wire-controlled, because underwater radio waves have considerable difficulty ensuring a stable connection, and in most cases, the maximum range is only a few dozen meters. However, the iBubble drone can dive even unattended and autonomously.
Once programmed, it will follow the diver, who will wear a special watch-shaped bracelet. The bracelet acts as the controller, allowing the diver to select the shooting mode. With an hour of battery life and a maximum depth of approximately 60 meters, iBubble is designed to follow the diver and always find the best shot.
What is an underwater drone used for?
The device is presented as a self-contained camera, relieving the diver of the burden of filming, but not only that. Other possible applications include taking selfies of your dive, or sending the drone underwater to film while you're on a boat, allowing you to explore a perhaps uninteresting area and find new sites without getting wet.
I imagine the objection many will raise will be, "But I enjoy filming, I don't want a robot to do it." If we want, we can always take control of the drone, use it as a manual camera, and then release it again so that it starts following us again.
