Deep Stop Lario 220, a depth record attempt in the waters of Lake Como.
The first preparatory dive took place on Sunday, May 1st, in preparation for the record attempt that Danilo Bernasconi , a thirty-five-year-old from Como who holds the record for 50 hours and 6 minutes in the water, is aiming to achieve on July 30th in the waters of Lake Como. Danilo and his support staff dived in Mandello del Lario (LC), at the FB Design shipyard, and began, by attaching two lines positioned at a depth of 50 meters, carrying out initial tests to familiarize themselves in the water and to refine the support staff who will support the record holder, both during the descent and especially during the ascent. A key requirement for passing the test will be the ability to perform the dive without any assistance from third parties in managing the tanks. The aim is to reach -220 meters to surpass the previous record of -212,50 meters set by an Italian diver in 2012 in the French waters of Cape Nizza. This is certainly the first time this attempt has been made in the lake, and the location chosen was Brienno (CO), where the seabed reaches precisely these depths.
The training will consist of a series of introductory dives to the predetermined depth, along with training to refine safety techniques and manage potential emergency situations. The team is made up of expert divers accustomed to deep diving and supported by medical staff from the San Fedele Center in Longone al Segrino (LC), coordinated by Dr. L. Morelli.
